Atris Technik was a company which used to provide various pc.Q: Makefile: How to use $(MAKE) in a loop i have a problem with using $(MAKE) in a makefile. I want to apply a recipe from the Makefile in a loop. The recipe should be for all files in a specific directory. my directory lookes like this: foo bar all files in this directory are listed in a list.txt file. I want to apply the recipe for all files in that directory and for the files i want the recipe to work i write this code: foo/Makefile list_files = $(shell cat list.txt) $(list_files): echo "Creating $@" echo $(addprefix., $(list_files)) mkdir -p $@ $(MAKE) -C $@ but for some reason i get this output in the console: Making all in bar/ .PHONY: all all: bar/foo/foo bar/foo/bar Making bar/ make: *** No rule to make target `foo/foo/foo', needed by `bar/foo/foo'. Stop. what is wrong with my code and how can i fix that. Thanks for your help. A: $(MAKE) is probably a normal built-in variable, not a command. If you are using GNU make, you should use $(MAKEFILE_LIST) and $(wildcard) instead. If you want to be able to use $(MAKE) in a recipe, you should use $(MAKE)
